Polytron and Phil Fish announce FEZ 2

13 Jun

FEZ 2 II phil fish

Yay! The most arrogant and anti-social (and probably genius) indie game designer and dev Phil Fish is back with the sequel for his masterpiece: FEZ 2

The game has been announced during E3 2013’s indie event, Horizon, just today. Unfortunately we still don’t know when it will be released and for which platform (considering the first FEZ was an Xbox 360 exclusive). Actually we don’t even know how the game will look like, as the following teaser trailer is everything we have for now.

Everything you need to know from the E3 2013

e3 2013 xbox one ps4 recap wiiu

Wow! That was intense! They’ve been a couple of heavy days if you’re a gamer and you followed all the shit going in Los Angeles for this year’s E3. It’s also a bit confusing if you try to get infos from different sites and sources, so we thought that maybe could be useful writing a bit of recap of all the good and bad things we saw at the most important expo for the game industry.

You already know who were the big protagonist of the event, the two party for the next gen war: Microsoft and SONY. So let’s find out all the things you should know about the Xbox One and the PlayStation4.

MICROSOFT XBOX ONE

microsoft xbox one e3

• Xbox One will be released on November 2013 and it will cost $499 / €499 / £429.

• Xbox One will require to connect to the internet once every 24 hours to perform some kind of check and/or update.

• Xbox One will require a constant connection to the Kinect 2.0 (that will be included with the console).

Microsoft Point will be discontinued. All purchases will be done in your local currency.

• Starting yesterday till the Xbox One release date, every Xbox LIVE gold member will get two free on-demand games per month.

• You’ll be able to buy disc-based games at traditional retailers or online through Xbox Live, on day of release.

Every game needs to be installed into the hard drive of the console in order to be played.

• Xbox One is designed so game publishers can enable you to give your disc-based games to your friends. There are no fees charged as part of these transfers. There are two requirements: you can only give them to people who have been on your friends list for at least 30 days and each game can only be given once.

• Xbox One is designed so game publishers can enable you to trade in your games at retailers.  Microsoft does not charge a platform fee to retailers, publishers, or consumers for enabling transfer of these games. So everything is up to the publishers.

• After signing in and installing, you can play any of your games from any Xbox One because a digital copy of your game is stored on your console and in the cloud.  So, for example, while you are logged in at your friend’s house, you can play your games.

• Up to ten members of your family can log in and play from your shared games library on any Xbox One.

• Xbox One will be region locked.

EXCLUSIVE GAMES FOR XBOX ONE (just the ones worth of mention)

• Halo

• Titanfall

• Forza Motorsport 5

• Dead Rising 3

• Killer Instinct

• Ryse: Son Of Rome

• D4

• Quantum Break (it will probably released also on PC)

• Crimson Dragon

• Minecraft Xbox One Edition (not really an exclusive)

• Sunset Overdrive

SONY PLAYSTATION 4

sony playstation4 e3

• PlayStation 4 will be released on Fall 2013 and it will cost $399 / €399 / £349.

• PlayStation 4 will not require constant internet connection.

PlayStation Plus will be required to play game’s online features.

Games don’t need to be installed into the hard drive of the console in order to be played.

PlayStation 4 first party games won’t have any DRM or second-hand selling/buying/trading restriction. Third party publishers are free to do the same, but they can apply whatever business model they prefer, without any pressure from SONY.

• PlayStation 4 will be region free.

EXCLUSIVE GAMES FOR PLAYSTATION 4 (just the ones worth of mention)

• The Order: 1886

• Driveclub

• Killzone: Shadow Fall

• Dark Sorcerer

• inFAMOUS: Second Son

So, as you can see, console-wise PlayStation 4 could has sounded better than Xbox One, but we think, after analyzing every aspect, that they both feature the same stuff. Sure, almost 100 quids less for the PS4 will be a huge plus.

Regarding the specific game exclusives, we are more impressed by the Xbox One roaster, even if things can change from here till the release date of both systems.

By the way, you may be interested also in all the good games that have been announced not as an exclusive, so for both platforms. Here’s a worth to check list:

• Destiny

• Tom Clancy’s The Division

• Dragon Age: Inquisition

• Final Fantasy XV

• Kingdom Hearts III

• Mad Max

• Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

• Mirror’s Edge 2

• Thief

• Watch Dogs

• Wolfestein: The New Order

Obviously there are a lot of announced new games for the next gen, like The Evil Within, but we still don’t know if they will be exclusives or for both platforms.

Ok, now that you know pretty much everything you need to know about the proper next gen, what about Nintendo? Is the Wii U dead already? HELL NO! Nintendo this year decided not to hold a proper conference, but just to stream simultaneously all around the world a pre-recorded Nintendo Direct, we don’t know why, but that 40 minutes were dense of pure Nintendo nerdgasm! In fact they announced pretty much EVERYTHING is in their game portfolio.

Maybe you don’t have time to watch the whole thing, so here’s a quick recap with time-mark to jump among all the worth-watching trailers in the big video:

00:56 Pokémon X and Pokémon Y
04:13 Super Mario 3D World
07:43 Mario Kart 8
17:11 Sonic Lost World
17:40 2013 Wii U Nintendo eShop Releases
19:25 The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD
23:59 The Wonderful 101
25:58 Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze
28:54 Bayonetta 2
31:50 Un-named game from Monolith Soft
34:23 Super Smash Bros.

Ok, we think you’re now ready to go on with your life, as you know everything important from this E3 so far! We also not gonna say to you which party you have to join for this console war, because we’re pretty doubtful even ourselves.

Sony (kinda) teases the new PlayStation 4 hardware

20 May

ps4 playstation 4

It’s safe to say that the new PlayStation 4 is really good looking. Maybe…if only we could actually see it!

The brand new console from Sony, pictured above, has been teased by the Japanese company in a not-so-clear video uploaded earlier today.

With the promise that the PS4 will be available to admire (and maybe try) at the next E3, here’s the video. Try to spot some shapes, if you can…

Teaser site from SEGA revealed

27 Mar

sega teaser site 0328 let's make a soccer team

Do you remember this mysterious teaser site from SEGA we showed you last week? Ok, now this is how it looks…so we got a football/soccer ball in the middle of the screen. Boring.

Earlier today the Japanese magazine Famitsu confirmed, outsorcing from some leaked infos, that the site is about a new Let’s Make a Soccer Team a.k.a. the game no one wants.

Here’s a video about the latest version released outside Japan on PS2.

Disappointed? Us too…

New teaser site from SEGA

21 Mar

sega teaser site 0328

We all know, SEGA likes teaser sites, a lot. So after the one for the japanese release of Chaos Online, here’s a new mysterious site (you can check it here, but the above image shows pretty much everything).

The web page hints to some PlayStation3 and PsVita exclusive and reports the date of March 28.

Unfortunately there isn’t much more to tell, apart for the faded field at the bottom, and what looks like sand being poured down in the middle of the screen. It could possibly be everything. So stay tuned, and wait for March 28.

***UPDATE 27 Marc 2013***

You will be very disappointed

Sony UK teases something about a new Ovosonico IP (?)

21 Mar

ovosonico sony uk teaser egg

Just few days ago we told you about Ovosonico signing with Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios Europe, to work together on a new intellectual property.

Today we report a strange thing teased by Sony UK on their Facebook page. Indeed they posted a weird red mechanical egg (picture above) just saying “It’s coming…”.

It could be everything, even a new Iron Man game as far as we know…but why we suppose it is something related to Ovosonico? Simply because Massimo Guarini (founder of Ovosonico) shared the news about the egg on his Facebook profile and on Ovosonico’s official page.

Obviously this is just a rumor, but it could say that the announcement of the new IP from the Italian indie studio is coming soon. Stay tuned.

New teaser for The Phantom Pain

18 Mar

After the little “coming out” of Joakim Mogren (or whoever he is) few day ago, seems like Moby Dick Studio has released a new teaser for their highly rumored The Phantom Pain. Let’s take a look at it.

You surely heard that noisy morse code during the video. Obviously someone has already translated it, and it says:

“GENERATING IMAGE HOLD SCENARIO LOADING HOLD ACTIVATE PHANTOM PAIN DOT MEME HOLD ERROR ERROR ERROR ERROR ”

Otherwise, another thing you most likely didn’t notice is that about halfway through the video there is a subliminal blip, and someone at VG247 has transcribed it:

PROJECT OMEGA
AI MATRIX: SECTOR07-A942
VR PROGRAM: PHANTOM_PAIN.MME
CONTRACTOR: MOBY DICK STUDIOS
SUBJECT: REDACTED

PURPOSE-
TREATMENT OF NEUROLOGICAL DAMAGE SUSTAINED IN COMBAT SITUATIONS
TREATMENT OF COMBAT RELATED PSYCHOLOGICAL STRESS
ENHANCEMENT OF COMBAT ABILITIES FOLLOWING IMPAIRMENT
IMPLEMENTATION OF ..::.|>..::.:

So, what the fuck all this means? We don’t know…stay tuned.

At least something good was shown at PlayStation2013 event

22 Feb

And no, we’re not talking about the new PlayStation 4

Why? Because we didn’t actually see the console, because it has no backward compatibility, because the Dual Shock 4 it’s the same fucking not-comfortable controller since the PS1 (with a very useful touch-whatever-it-is) or just because who really cares about consoles? We want games!

And that’s why the PlayStation2013 conference wasn’t bad at all. Indeed, beside some very ugly and/or not impressive games (see: FPS), there were a couple of interesting titles with their relative trailer/teaser.

First of all, the yet E3-2012 presented Watch Dogs from Ubisoft (yep, we know, Ubisoft sucks, but damn, this one looks good!).

The second notable game is from Capcom, it’s called Deep Down, but it’s just a working title. Usually we don’t give a shit about the graphic, but this one is stunning.

Teaser sites everywhere!

8 Feb

We all know the video games industry feeds on hype. And beside all the regular hype-increaser stuff, like trailers or other advertisements (like this one), sometimes video games companies opt for some sort of mysterious teaser sites, that make gamers and press yell “what the fuck is this?”.

We got a couple examples online right now.

The first one is from SEGA and it features three different artworks (one of them below) and teases a February 12 reveal. You can check out the site here.

sega teaser site 12 feb 2013

Someone said that seems to be for a Japanese version of Korean online game Chaos Online, because, as you can check by yourself here, the game’s official Korean site features banners with the same artworks.

The second one is from Square Enix. The site (here we go) is called murdered.com and it features just a random symbol painted on a rainy road. The header also says: What is the hardest case to solve?

murdered square enix teaser site

Square Enix is less cryptic than SEGA; indeed, beside the header and the platforms logos, it is also teasing some hints via its social network channels (like this brand new Twitter account), posting some absolutely meaningless images like this one below.

murdered square enix teaser site

Any clue about this? Someone on the net found this harvester.netops.eidosinteractive.com/harv.js?’+Math.random(); string in the HTML source of the site, so probably it’s some new IP called Harvester, but more likely it’s just another spin off game from the 13 series that no one wants [Cit.].

**UPDATE (9 Feb 2013)**

Apparently Square Enix replied to Kotaku asking for more details. Here it is:

Murdered: Soul Suspect is an exciting new game from Square Enix which challenges players to solve possibly the hardest case of all.”

Sony will reveal the next PlayStation on February 20 (?)

1 Feb

We are not consoles fanboys, indeed they are just pieces of hardware allowing us to play games, and we love games, more than our own life. But we recognize that the release of a new console is always a big thing, and this generation is probably almost exhausted (anyway, there are just few software houses that tried to push X360 and PS3 to their limit, but still).

So people are looking forward to the next gen, and the two giants (no, Nintendo, we have not forgotten you. We still love you anyway) have started the HYPE WAR.

The first proper move is from Sony, that yesterday has released this teaser on YouTube

It ends with a date: February 20, 2013. Will Sony announce their next PlayStation (PS4, Orbis or whatever you want to call it) then? We’ll see. Anyway the event will be streamed worldwide, so it’s likely about something very big.

Also Shuhei Yoshida (President of SCE) seems very excited (or very confused, or very drunk, or he’s just trolling the world) about what’s going on

So, we can just wait to see what will happen next. For now write down the date and keep playing on your present-gen.
