SHENMUE 3 HOAX

As we suspected, we’re sorry to report that the news about SEGA trademarking Shenmue 3 we posted earlier today is almost certainly fake. Various hints lead to a hoax, for example the lack of an application reference number on the website.

Yep, we can’t believe it too, but IT IS REAL! Yu Suzuki, after all the false news and the never started Kickstarter campaign, just announced that he found a private funder for the long-waited Shenmue 3!

Thanks to this mysterious benefactor, Suzuki has been able to buy all the unused rights of the Shenmue franchise from SEGA (we’re wondering for how much) and finally get to work on the new chapter of the saga. There are still no details about the development team and/or the precise release timing, but the Japanese designere confirmed that the game will be ready by the end of 2014 and it will be released on the current generation consoles (no words about the Wii U).

Suzuki also said that he’s recruiting talented people for the project, and that he will publish a proper press release, including all contact info for joining Team Shenmue.

So, the wait is over (oh well, it’s yet started) and the game that everybody wants is finally becoming real! Stay tuned for more upcoming infos in the next days.

* JUST IN CASE YOU DIDN’T NOTICE, THIS WAS AN APRIL FOOL *

Yu Suzuki is still thinking about making Shenmue 3

Mark Cerny Yu Suzuki shenmue 3

Yes, we know. You heard this a gillion times, but every time the name Yu Suzuki meets the magic word Shenmue 3 everyone gets super hyped!

So here we are. In fact seems like Yu Suzuki (you know, the creator of Shenmue, but also of Out Run, After Burner and other SEGA evergreens) is still thinking -or let’s say, trying- to make Shenmue 3. Indeed Suzuki-san has been caught talking (and posing for the picture above) with Mark Cerny, that is PlayStation 4 lead architect…so maybe…well you know what we mean.

Here’s the original tweet by Meggan Scavio, that suggests Suzuki and Cerny are talking about some kind of strategy for the game:

But this is not all folks, indeed here’s another tweet by Brandon Sheffield that met Yu Suzuki during last week’s GDC:

So, looks like something is happening…we’ll see. Stay tuned and finger crossed!

Yep, you heard it so many times in the past twelve years, but everytime it was just bullshit…probably also this time, but still, here is your news about a possible making of long-waited Shenmue 3.

Indeed seems that Yu Suzuki, acclaimed developer of the Shenmue franchise for SEGA, is seriously thinking about a Kickstarter project to fund the development of Shenmue 3. The news comes from Sebastien Abdelhamid, a french journalist for CANAL+ , that met Suzuki at the Monaco Anime Game Show. Here’s the tweet about the rumor.

We don’t know if this will really happen, but we hope so…still, we are a bit worried about SEGA and its ownership of all the copyrights for the franchise.

Stay tuned!
