Polytron and Phil Fish announce FEZ 2

FEZ 2 II phil fish

Yay! The most arrogant and anti-social (and probably genius) indie game designer and dev Phil Fish is back with the sequel for his masterpiece: FEZ 2

The game has been announced during E3 2013’s indie event, Horizon, just today. Unfortunately we still don’t know when it will be released and for which platform (considering the first FEZ was an Xbox 360 exclusive). Actually we don’t even know how the game will look like, as the following teaser trailer is everything we have for now.

If you were expecting a sequel for Okami, we got bad news

okami merchandise

Last month, from the official Okami Twitter account, Capcom said they got some upcoming big news about the series. All the teasing was made in occasion of the Japanese Golden Week which is a period of multiple consecutive holidays in Japan. Here’s the tweet:

Yes, we know that you probably can’t speak Japanese, so here’s a translation:

“Hello, this is Okami news. Sorry if I’ve been kind of out of touch lately, but I have the feeling we’ll be able to drop a fresh announcement like WHAM! around the beginning of Golden Week, so please look forward to it. Right now we’re on track with preparations.”

Obviously everyone got super excited, expecting some big announcement about, let’s say, Okami 2.

No way…today Capcom announced some Okami merchandise, and just for the Japanese market.

This is the worst way to start a new week.

This teaser from SEGA seems to announce the return of Castle Of Illusion

castle of illusion sega disney mickey mouse

Earlier today SEGA of America uploaded a mysterious new video on its YouTube channel. The silent b/w teaser really looks like some sort of Castle Of Illusion starring Mickey Mouse remake/sequel.

As you can see, the trailer has no description and the title just says “Summer 2013”, but the style is unmistakeble and this is definitely something about the Genesis’ evergreen Castle Of Illusion from 1990. We are quite sure about this because of the 1990 – 2013 copyright at the end of the video, but also because the game was already added to the brazilian ratings bureau and someone an NeoGAF spotted a box art from the xbox.com HTML code.

So it looks like another Disney’s classic game will see the HD light this year (after the great announcement of Duck Tales Remastered by Capcom last month). Seems like Disney has something to be forgiven for…isn’t it?

Shenmue 3 will be released by the end of 2014

shenmue 3

Yep, we can’t believe it too, but IT IS REAL! Yu Suzuki, after all the false news and the never started Kickstarter campaign, just announced that he found a private funder for the long-waited Shenmue 3!

Thanks to this mysterious benefactor, Suzuki has been able to buy all the unused rights of the Shenmue franchise from SEGA (we’re wondering for how much) and finally get to work on the new chapter of the saga. There are still no details about the development team and/or the precise release timing, but the Japanese designere confirmed that the game will be ready by the end of 2014 and it will be released on the current generation consoles (no words about the Wii U).

Suzuki also said that he’s recruiting talented people for the project, and that he will publish a proper press release, including all contact info for joining Team Shenmue.

So, the wait is over (oh well, it’s yet started) and the game that everybody wants is finally becoming real! Stay tuned for more upcoming infos in the next days.

Ed Annunziata, creator of the Ecco The Dolphin series, and Spencer Nilsen, composer of the original scores of the game, teamed up with Bear McCreary known for his music works on The Walking Dead and Battlestart Galctica, announced the will to create a spiritual successor for the high-loved underwater adventure game.

The game is called The Big Blue, and it is a new aquatic action adventure game where players will experience the ocean like never before. The look and feel of this game will be strikingly beautiful and at the same time mysterious and terrifying. The ocean, especially a million years in the future, is the perfect setting for a unique game play experience.

“While this game isn’t based on the original Ecco the Dolphin series, it is the next evolutionary step in underwater adventure games. We want to make something epic. Something with smooth game controls, deep backstory, emphasis on exploration and artificial life.

I have to do it, I’m kind of obligated to the character. I got really lucky that Ecco was really successful, and that it kind of put me on a trajectory where I get to make my own weird games. I’ll always have an emotional connection. It’s just huge in my heart.”

But this game isn’t real, yet. The creative team behind Ecco the Dolphin is currently seeking $665,000 on Kickstarter, so if you feel like The Big Blue would be a must-play masterpiece, help them to make it real.
