e3 2013 xbox one ps4 recap wiiu

Wow! That was intense! They’ve been a couple of heavy days if you’re a gamer and you followed all the shit going in Los Angeles for this year’s E3. It’s also a bit confusing if you try to get infos from different sites and sources, so we thought that maybe could be useful writing a bit of recap of all the good and bad things we saw at the most important expo for the game industry.

You already know who were the big protagonist of the event, the two party for the next gen war: Microsoft and SONY. So let’s find out all the things you should know about the Xbox One and the PlayStation4.

MICROSOFT XBOX ONE

microsoft xbox one e3

• Xbox One will be released on November 2013 and it will cost $499 / €499 / £429.

• Xbox One will require to connect to the internet once every 24 hours to perform some kind of check and/or update.

• Xbox One will require a constant connection to the Kinect 2.0 (that will be included with the console).

Microsoft Point will be discontinued. All purchases will be done in your local currency.

• Starting yesterday till the Xbox One release date, every Xbox LIVE gold member will get two free on-demand games per month.

• You’ll be able to buy disc-based games at traditional retailers or online through Xbox Live, on day of release.

Every game needs to be installed into the hard drive of the console in order to be played.

• Xbox One is designed so game publishers can enable you to give your disc-based games to your friends. There are no fees charged as part of these transfers. There are two requirements: you can only give them to people who have been on your friends list for at least 30 days and each game can only be given once.

• Xbox One is designed so game publishers can enable you to trade in your games at retailers.  Microsoft does not charge a platform fee to retailers, publishers, or consumers for enabling transfer of these games. So everything is up to the publishers.

• After signing in and installing, you can play any of your games from any Xbox One because a digital copy of your game is stored on your console and in the cloud.  So, for example, while you are logged in at your friend’s house, you can play your games.

• Up to ten members of your family can log in and play from your shared games library on any Xbox One.

• Xbox One will be region locked.

EXCLUSIVE GAMES FOR XBOX ONE (just the ones worth of mention)

• Halo

• Titanfall

• Forza Motorsport 5

• Dead Rising 3

• Killer Instinct

• Ryse: Son Of Rome

• D4

• Quantum Break (it will probably released also on PC)

• Crimson Dragon

• Minecraft Xbox One Edition (not really an exclusive)

• Sunset Overdrive

SONY PLAYSTATION 4

sony playstation4 e3

• PlayStation 4 will be released on Fall 2013 and it will cost $399 / €399 / £349.

• PlayStation 4 will not require constant internet connection.

PlayStation Plus will be required to play game’s online features.

Games don’t need to be installed into the hard drive of the console in order to be played.

PlayStation 4 first party games won’t have any DRM or second-hand selling/buying/trading restriction. Third party publishers are free to do the same, but they can apply whatever business model they prefer, without any pressure from SONY.

• PlayStation 4 will be region free.

EXCLUSIVE GAMES FOR PLAYSTATION 4 (just the ones worth of mention)

• The Order: 1886

• Driveclub

• Killzone: Shadow Fall

• Dark Sorcerer

• inFAMOUS: Second Son

So, as you can see, console-wise PlayStation 4 could has sounded better than Xbox One, but we think, after analyzing every aspect, that they both feature the same stuff. Sure, almost 100 quids less for the PS4 will be a huge plus.

Regarding the specific game exclusives, we are more impressed by the Xbox One roaster, even if things can change from here till the release date of both systems.

By the way, you may be interested also in all the good games that have been announced not as an exclusive, so for both platforms. Here’s a worth to check list:

• Destiny

• Tom Clancy’s The Division

• Dragon Age: Inquisition

• Final Fantasy XV

• Kingdom Hearts III

• Mad Max

• Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

• Mirror’s Edge 2

• Thief

• Watch Dogs

• Wolfestein: The New Order

Obviously there are a lot of announced new games for the next gen, like The Evil Within, but we still don’t know if they will be exclusives or for both platforms.

Ok, now that you know pretty much everything you need to know about the proper next gen, what about Nintendo? Is the Wii U dead already? HELL NO! Nintendo this year decided not to hold a proper conference, but just to stream simultaneously all around the world a pre-recorded Nintendo Direct, we don’t know why, but that 40 minutes were dense of pure Nintendo nerdgasm! In fact they announced pretty much EVERYTHING is in their game portfolio.

Maybe you don’t have time to watch the whole thing, so here’s a quick recap with time-mark to jump among all the worth-watching trailers in the big video:

00:56 Pokémon X and Pokémon Y
04:13 Super Mario 3D World
07:43 Mario Kart 8
17:11 Sonic Lost World
17:40 2013 Wii U Nintendo eShop Releases
19:25 The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD
23:59 The Wonderful 101
25:58 Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze
28:54 Bayonetta 2
31:50 Un-named game from Monolith Soft
34:23 Super Smash Bros.

Ok, we think you’re now ready to go on with your life, as you know everything important from this E3 so far! We also not gonna say to you which party you have to join for this console war, because we’re pretty doubtful even ourselves.

Meet Xbox One

21 May

xbox one

Yep, this is it! The brand new Microsoft game console, the XBOX ONE (nice name, no really). And below you can admire its brand new shaped controller.

xbox one controller

Here some more details:

• 8 gigs of RAM

• USB 3.0

• Wi-Fi Direct

Blu-Ray disc drive (wondering how much is Sony’s bill for this)

• 64-bit architecture

Wired (that tried the new Xbox) reported that Xbox One will NOT require an always-online internet connection, but due to an installation of every game on the HDD and a registration on the Xbox site required, Microsoft confirmed with that while installations to other hard drives are allowed, users will need to pay an unspecified fee to do so. ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?? So I need to pay even if I borrow a game from my friend. Thanks.

The Xbox One won’t play any existing Xbox 360 games, said Microsoft’s Marc Whitten in an interview with The Verge.

“The system is based on a different core architecture, so back-compat doesn’t really work from that perspective.”

Microsoft’s Harvey Eagle told IGN another super good news (see: irony). In fact seems like your Kinect will need to be connected in order for the Xbox One to function:

“Kinect does require to be connected to Xbox One in all cases, yes.”

Xbox One will hit the stores this fall, but still no release date.

Sony (kinda) teases the new PlayStation 4 hardware

20 May

It’s safe to say that the new PlayStation 4 is really good looking. Maybe…if only we could actually see it!

The brand new console from Sony, pictured above, has been teased by the Japanese company in a not-so-clear video uploaded earlier today.

With the promise that the PS4 will be available to admire (and maybe try) at the next E3, here’s the video. Try to spot some shapes, if you can…

The next-gen Xbox will be revealed on May 21st

#XboxReveal xbox720 durango new next gen streaming

Like few months ago for the PS4, Microsoft has announced that the next-gen Xbox, codename Durango, will be revealed on May 21st; about time! Obviously a live stream will be available almost everywhere on the net, but particularly on xbox.com, on Xbox Live and on Spike TV.

Pin the the date. We’re looking forward to find out what’s Microsoft’s next move.

Sony will reveal the next PlayStation on February 20 (?)

1 Feb

We are not consoles fanboys, indeed they are just pieces of hardware allowing us to play games, and we love games, more than our own life. But we recognize that the release of a new console is always a big thing, and this generation is probably almost exhausted (anyway, there are just few software houses that tried to push X360 and PS3 to their limit, but still).

So people are looking forward to the next gen, and the two giants (no, Nintendo, we have not forgotten you. We still love you anyway) have started the HYPE WAR.

The first proper move is from Sony, that yesterday has released this teaser on YouTube

It ends with a date: February 20, 2013. Will Sony announce their next PlayStation (PS4, Orbis or whatever you want to call it) then? We’ll see. Anyway the event will be streamed worldwide, so it’s likely about something very big.

Also Shuhei Yoshida (President of SCE) seems very excited (or very confused, or very drunk, or he’s just trolling the world) about what’s going on

So, we can just wait to see what will happen next. For now write down the date and keep playing on your present-gen.
