Get ready for Bayonetta anime!

19 Sep

bayonetta bloody fate anime

Good news nerds! Your favourite fictional witch is becoming an anime, and she’s hotter than ever!

Announced today by SEGA and Bayonetta Film Club, the full-lenght movie dubbed Bayonetta Bloody Fate, will hit only ten selected theaters across Japan on November 23 just for a limited two-week run.

Info are scattering through the internet, but for now we’re able to confirm that Bayonetta will be voice-acted by Atsuko Tanaka, that has quite a lot of geek experience in the field, and that the anime is made by the well-know Studio Gonzo.

Let’s hope to put our hands on this as soon as possible. But for now, enjoy the first trailer.

The Space Invaders: In Search of Lost Time

Do you remember when a couple of month ago we told you about a very interesting documentary about collecting arcade cabinets called The Space Invaders: In Search Of Lost Time? Good, because the movie is finally out and you can grab it on Amazon Video on Demand.

We are not here to talk about moral or something, but those guys really put a lot of effort on making this movie, so if you want to watch it, please avoid torrents.

Just in case, here’s the trailer.

Aliens: Colonial Marines, all the pretty Easter Eggs

17 Feb

Everyone’s talking a lot about last Gearbox‘s title, Aliens: Colonial Marines, we are not here to discuss how bad or how good it is because we think in the end is up to you to judge.
Instead we decided to put together a short video with all the Easter Eggs you can find in game, some related to the Aliens movies, some related to OTHER movies (see: Space Balls) and some not related at all, but still funny and worth to watch.

Have fun!

Enjoy J.J. Abrams and Gabe Newell talking together at DICE 2013

13 Feb

We’ve already told you about J.J. Abrams and Gabe Newell to collaborate on new games and/or movies here. But you probably want to watch the entire video from that little (20 minutes) talk between the two at D.I.C.E. 2013. So here it is

Wreck-It Ralph is awesome!

11 Feb

As you might have noticed, Wreck-It Ralph is finally out in UK.

Yup, we don’t know why, but basically we are the last country in the world to get the movie. Doesn’t matter, the only thing that really matters is that we went to a random VUE last weekend to watch it and…IT IS AMAZING!

Basically it’s the movie we all wanted! There’s everything and everyone in there, from epic video games quotes to forgotten characters from our childhood.

Like others recent Disney Pixar movies, Ralph is quite smart and not-only kids-oriented. Indeed this movie is hugely enjoyable from everyone, from the nostalgic Q*bert players to the next-gen newbies.

The movie was also very smartly advertised by Disney UK, giving us the #8BitLane in Brick Lane. And we loved it.

We don’t want to spoiler all the little gems from this masterpiece, so we can stop here, inviting you to watch it asap (just do it!).

In the meanwhile enjoy the latest trailer

PS: Remember to stay until the very end of end credits 😉

When universes collide: J.J. Abrams and Gabe Newell to collaborate

8 Feb

jj abrams gabe newell

Yup, it’s not an hoax. Two of the worst psychopaths (read it in a good way) out there are teaming up. Indeed Bad Robots, J.J. Abrams‘ production company, and Valve, Gabe Newell‘s software house, are planning to collaborate on a new game and probably also on Half Life and/or Portal movies.

This news comes from the stage of D.I.C.E. 2013, where the two had a public conversation in front of hundreds of developers and press people.

Abrams also said that the game he’s in talks with Valve about making will be completely new, with no links to existing Valve or Bad Robot properties. Sorry, we won’t have any Half Life 3 any soon (Newell can’t count to three, you know the joke).

The reason? This is what Abrams said:

“The conversation about what story is in movies, what story is in gaming, the mechanics of story, what makes the experience of a game sometimes more satisfying than a film and vice versa, these are just sort of discussions we’ve had for years. We’ve had so many meetings and finally got to a point where we said, ‘We need to start making stuff.’

And so the ideas that we’ve had for games, the ideas they’ve had for turning Portal and Half-Life into a film, we just decided we actually have to start doing this stuff.”

We are quite excited about this collaboration, they’re both talented (and weird). We are really looking forward to see what’s next.

The Space Invaders: In Search of Lost Time

The Space Invaders: In Search of Lost Time

No, it’s not a new Space Invaders game coming to your iPad or something, The Space Invaders: In Search of Lost Time is a feature-length documentary film about classic arcade game collecting. It is the story of classic obsession, the second life of games in basements and garages across the US.

The Space Invaders: In Search of Lost Time will take you inside America’s hidden game rooms and into the hearts and minds of those who have made it their mission to enthusiastically preserve these important cultural touchstones.

Why? Because by 1985, video arcades revenue had fallen 97%, so they began to disappear worldwide (apart from Japan, as we said here) and most of the old games were converted or destroyed. A few, packed into warehouses, largely forgotten for another decade.

This documentary seems to be a very good chance to undust some masterpieces from the golden age of arcades, and meet the most hardcore coin-op experts and collectors out there.

The full-lenght film, directed by Jeff Von Ward and featuring lots of die-hard collectors (take a look at them here), should be out around next April and we’re really looking forward to watch it. But for now just enjoy the trailer and check out its website.
