When it was firstly announced, Kojima said that his new “erotic” character wouldn’t be cosplayable. Well, it’s obvious that everything and anything is cosplayable, and here’s the proof.

New trailer at Hideo Kojima‘s GDC keynote confirms Metal Gear Ground Zeroes and The Phantom Pain are together actually Metal Gear Solid 5.

Here we go with the first reveal trailer!

Kojima seems to be behind the Phantom Pain project

21 Mar

We’ve talked a lot about this mysterious Phantom Pain, with the recent interview of Joakim Mogren and the last teaser trailer from Moby Dick Studio.

People is still saying that behind all this well-thinked plan there’s the genius mind of our dear Hideo Kojima, and that The Phantom Pain will be nothing more that a new Metal Gear Solid title.

We don’t know if Joakim Mogren exists or not, nor if the game will be an another MGS; but now it’s kinda sure that Kojima is in the project…well, more than that. In fact, today Kojima posted a picture on Twitter with a screenshot of a trailer he was making. Take a look.

If you’re wondering what the hell he said, it’s just “This is what this lens flair is like, lol.”. But this is not the clue. The trailer says that Kojima is the Producer, Game Designer and Director…but of which game? Take a closer look…check the fine name…got it? Yep, the file name is TPP_GDC2013_720p_ESRB!

TPP is obviously The Phantom Pain…and this could be the trailer they will show in the upcoming GDC 2013.

So, surprise surprise, Kojima is behind the Phantom Pain project!

This man claims to be Joakim Mogren of Moby Dick Studios

15 Mar

Do you remember The Phantom Pain, the mysterious game presented last December at Spike Video Game Awards, credited to a Swedish developer known as Moby Dick Studio? Yes, no, who cares? Watch this trailer.

Ok, now that you’re “in line” we can tell you that also the developer studio is kinda mysterious, and nobody ever hear about it before. That’s why a lot of people is speculating about The Phantom Pain as a new Metal Gear Solid title. Why? Because the main character resemble to Snake or because Kojima has tweeted a couple of rendered stuff in Fox Engine (the graphic engine from Metal Gear) that then we discovered being present in the above trailer (like the nurses) or because a couple of guys (one of them was Kyle Cooper, who previously designed title sequences for Metal Gear Solid 2 and Metal Gear Solid 3) were spotted at a Konami private party wearing Phantom Pain t-shirts.

But the thing that the most connect The Phantom Pain to MGS is the name of the CEO of this Moby Dick Studio: Joakim Mogren. Apart from sounding like a very fake name, the word Joakim is an anagram for Kojima

But this is all old stuff. The real news is that Geoff Keighley, journalist for GGTV, has interviewed this Joakim guy. Here is the revealing tweet:

But this is not enough, watch the video interview.

Ok, now we know for sure that this guy is an idiot (or a genius?), that the game runs on Fox Engine, and that probably we all have more details later this month. Stay tuned.

The making of Metal Gear Rising murals

7 Mar

Surely you still remember the amazing and huge murals made by End Of The Line in London, Liverpool and Leeds for the launch of Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. Well the game is now out (and it’s amazing) and Konami decided to release a video “making of” of the three graffiti. Enjoy (and expect some heavy dubstep).

Hideo Kojima and Yoji Shinkawa attending UK launch of Metal Gear Rising

21 Feb

Metal-Gear-Rising-Police-Car-2

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is one of the most hyped titles of this 2013 and Konami is putting a lot of effort in the UK launch. As we already told you, a series of giant Raiden murals has been created in three UK cities and every single bus in London has its own MGR advertisement on it.

But that’s not all, indeed Hideo Kojima and Yoji Shinkawa will be visiting London video games store GAME (the one in Westfield Shopping Center, Shepherd’s Bush) to attend the launch and sign some copies of the game.

GAME has also sent a press release for the midnight event:

KOJIMA COMES TO TOWN FOR REVENGEANCE LAUNCH

Celebrate the launch of Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance in the company of gaming legends Hideo Kojima and Yoji Shinkawa

On 22nd February GAME will host legendary videogame director Hideo Kojima at Westfield White City to celebrate the official UK launch of the long-awaited Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance.

Not only will the living legend be present at the event – Mr. Kojima will also be taking part in a Q&A in front of the crowds at the White City GAME store before the clock strikes twelve.

After satisfying the crowd’s curiosity about the inner workings of one of the most successful franchises in videogame history, Mr. Kojima will be joined by Konami lead artist and series creative director Yoji Shinkawa to serve the first 200 people in the queue their copy of the game. That’s right: 200 lucky gamers will receive their copy of Revengeance straight from the hands of the two men who created it! Gamers will then get the money-can’t-buy opportunity to have their picture taken with Hideo Kojima and Yoji Shinkawa; a great souvenir of the night to make them the envy of all their gaming friends.

Fans who have been working on an exoskeleton suit on their day off, have a kickass Gray Fox costume ready in their wardrobes, or want to crawl around Westfield in a “clever” cardboard box disguise are encouraged to arrive in cosplay to show Mr. Kojima and Mr. Shinkawa their inventions brought to life by their British fan base.

GAME is taking questions direct from the UK gaming community for Mr. Kojima. Gamers can tweet @GAMEdigital with their questions using the hashtag #GAMEAsksKojima and the best questions will be answered on the launch night by the man himself.

Dave Howard, Stores Director at GAME said: “We are over the moon that Hideo Kojima and Yuji Shinkawa are joining us for the launch of Revengeance at GAME, White City. They are legends in the gaming world and it’s going to be an unbelievable night for the gaming community. Mr. Kojima and Mr. Shinkawa have been the driving force behind some of the most high-calibre and forward-thinking games to grace our screens and it will be a real privilege seeing them up-close and personal, answering our community’s questions. It’s all set to be an unforgettable experience for our Metal Gear fans and one which is not to be missed!”

Customers who pre-order the game before the night will receive a GAME exclusive Steelbook Cover illustrated by Mr. Shinkawa, plus the download code for an in-game bonus available at no other European retailer: Raiden’s Inferno Armour. The in-game bonus increases the number of throwing weapons that the character can carry. All copies of Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance purchased at GAME also include the character Gray Fox, the original Cyborg Ninja from the hugely popular Metal Gear Solid, as downloadable content.

Looks like a good opportunity to meet two of the greatest game designers of all time. If you’ll be around London tomorrow, don’t let this chance go.

As you can see, after travelling from USA to France and Italy, Kojima is heading to London

**UPDATE (21 Feb 2013, 18:04)**

Well, it seems that if you want to attend the event you have to actually move your ass NOW and get there.

Giant Metal Gear Rising murals decorate three UK cities

7 Feb

Tired of all these Metal Gear Rising trailers? Yep, the new title from Platinum Games looks awesome and all, but Konami felt that its new masterpiece (we hope it will be, because Platinum guys are cool and talented) deserve some more hype…

That’s why EndOfTheLine, a company based in East London focused on producing huge murals and cutting edge installations, has been contacted by the Japanese software house to perform some graffiti about Raiden in three UK cities.

You can find these pieces of art in Ropewalks Square in Liverpool (where the above pics were taken), Sclater Street in London’s Shoreditch and Aire Street in Leeds. The artworks aren’t quite finished yet, but by tomorrow the should be.

EndOfTheLine guys are quite famous for this kind of campaigns, indeed they used to work within the video games industry quite a lot. Check their portfolio to see some of their best work to date.

This is the kind of advertisement we like!

**UPDATE (12 Feb 2013)**

Here’s the one in Leeds!

**UPDATE (19 Feb 2013)**

We’ve been to Shoreditch this eve, and now also the one in London is (almost) complete!
