Resident Evil Revelations’ launch event in London will feature a blood-filled swimming pool

14 May

resident evil revelations

You already know that Capcom marketing guys are pretty insane (let’s say completely bonkers). We know it from the previous event for the launch of Resident Evil 6 that featured a fake (but incredibly real-looking) human meat market (pictured below).

But that wasn’t enough…so, what about a blood-filled swimming pool with torso floats, intestines as lane markers, and all kinds of nasty and rotten objects floating in the water including bloody bandages, eyeballs, tendrils and blood clots? Disgusting? Good, because that’s exactly what is going to happen in London next weekend, at the official RE: Revelations launch event.

Capcom is promising big time to all the Resident Evil event attendants, warning fans to expect a ”shocking, gory and an incredibly disturbing experience – the perfect way to show that survival horror is back with a bang for Resident Evil Revelations”.

Interested? Better be quick because only 200 free tickets will be available here on May 20th (from 9.00am). While waiting to can kill some time zombies with the Resident Evil Revelation demo, already available on Xbox 360 and Wii U (PlayStation 3 owners have to wait till tomorrow)

The making of Metal Gear Rising murals

7 Mar

Surely you still remember the amazing and huge murals made by End Of The Line in London, Liverpool and Leeds for the launch of Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. Well the game is now out (and it’s amazing) and Konami decided to release a video “making of” of the three graffiti. Enjoy (and expect some heavy dubstep).

Huge Alien egg appears in London

12 Feb

Tomorrow, or better today (as it’s 1am while we’re writing this) it’s the release date for the highly anticipated (and delayed) Aliens: Colonial Marines.

We are pretty much fans of the Alien’s universe, but we don’t know if this upcoming Gearbox and SEGA‘s game could meet our expectations. We’ll see.

Anyway, SEGA had found a very cool way to promote its new title. Basically they’ve put a gigantic Alien egg just in front of the London’s Tower Bridge, and when we say gigantic, we mean like 6 meters tall…IT IS FUCKING HUGE!

The installation is completely open to the public, so if you live in London it may worth a closer look (hurry up, as we don’t know how long it’ll last).

just can't be unseen!

It just can’t be unseen!

Let's save the universe. Again.

Well done SEGA! We like this kind of advertisements!

Giant Metal Gear Rising murals decorate three UK cities

7 Feb

Tired of all these Metal Gear Rising trailers? Yep, the new title from Platinum Games looks awesome and all, but Konami felt that its new masterpiece (we hope it will be, because Platinum guys are cool and talented) deserve some more hype…

That’s why EndOfTheLine, a company based in East London focused on producing huge murals and cutting edge installations, has been contacted by the Japanese software house to perform some graffiti about Raiden in three UK cities.

You can find these pieces of art in Ropewalks Square in Liverpool (where the above pics were taken), Sclater Street in London’s Shoreditch and Aire Street in Leeds. The artworks aren’t quite finished yet, but by tomorrow the should be.

EndOfTheLine guys are quite famous for this kind of campaigns, indeed they used to work within the video games industry quite a lot. Check their portfolio to see some of their best work to date.

This is the kind of advertisement we like!

**UPDATE (12 Feb 2013)**

Here’s the one in Leeds!

**UPDATE (19 Feb 2013)**

We’ve been to Shoreditch this eve, and now also the one in London is (almost) complete!

Memorable Video Game Advertisements | 1 – Nintendo // SEGA

2 Feb

As we all know, video games are art (no? wrong blog). But there are something else that usually is left out from the definition of art…advertisements. Obviously not all of them (exactly as not all games are), for example we don’t consider art your local market tv spot or some trash washing powders paper ads as a form of art.

But, what happen when video games and advertising collide? Well, sometimes something special, that gives you goosebumps, sometimes something very weird (anyone said japanese tv spots?).

Said so, MEMORABLE VIDEO GAME ADVERTISEMENTS (MVGA) will be a new periodical (just don’t ask how often) column about the best (and sometimes the worst) video games advertisements of all times. Every issue will feature one tv spot and one print/paper/billboard adv.

Let’s start!

NINTENDO GAMECUBE TV COMMERCIAL

Date: 2001

Country: Japan (any doubt about that?)

Comment: What the fuck did I just see?? Well, probably one of the weirdest best Nintendo commercial so far…Anyway that’s not Tokyo or something, but it was filmed in Hong Kong. And if you’re wondering about the song, it’s “Hatsukoi” by Kojima Mayumi

SEGA GENESIS PAPER ADV

gdwnd_01

Date: 1989

Country: USA (the name Genesis rings any bell?)

Comment: Brilliant! Fantastic! We’ll love this adv forever! This is pure OLD SCHOOL CONSOLE WAR! Thanks to Sega of America CEO Michael Katz for being so arrogant and aggressive; you created one of the best marketing campaign ever!
