Loading Soho will be back with some Bioshock Infinite frenzy

27 Mar

loading soho gaming bar pub cafe london event

Good news folks! Do you remember our report about Loading Soho, the gaming pub event in London? Did you miss it? No problem, because they’re having another Loading London gaming event and it’s this weekend! And this time will be even more awesome thanks to a 2K Games collaboration! Read the official disclaimer:

In conjunction with 2k games, we bring you our second big event, combining the same venue, atmosphere and good times with the awesome Bioshock infinite.

Yesterday we revealed our new Bioshock cocktails, lovingly crafted for 2K, which had until now been held captive under the watchful gaze of the Embargo Bird.

We decided that offering up these drinks pictures was nice, but we could do MUCH BETTER. We have launched plenty of tie in drinks but never made it easy for you to come and try them in person.

If only there was a way we could do what we did last week with our first Loading Soho party but make it on a weekend and go one (of a few) better…

So rather than one pop up night, Loading Soho in MADD is launching the first of our “open beta testing” events for not one, but four days.

We will be offering up Bioshock Infinite to play on 5 swanky new 32″ screens with the original Bioshock playable for anyone who wants to experience the game that started it all.

We’re not just stopping at that, the heroes at 2K have decided to support us, so the first 50 attending on Friday night from 5pm will receive:

1x ‘Vigor’ cocktail/our non-alcoholic equivalent
1x Song bird poster
1x Lanyard
1x FREE TSHIRT!

But 2K didn’t stop there, everyone that buys a drink gets a ticket to enter the prize draw to win one of the following:

1 Xbox Collector’s Edition (Ultimate Songbird Edition)

1 PS3 Premium Edition

1 PC Premium Edition

1 Xbox Premium Edition

2 Skyhook replicas

2 Elizabeth figurines

2 Boys of Silence figurines

If you don’t already follow @2KUKPR give them a follow/send them a tweet and say how amazing they are for helping make Loading Soho happen full time!

See you there! Join us from Friday @ 5pm until Monday @ 11pm

Free Entry, drinks at normal prices. (ID required for any drink redemption)

Tweet @2KUKPR account some Loading love and hashtag #loadingsoho for the chance to win extra free cocktails and coffee from Loading for the rest of the 3 days.

What to expect from Loading Soho event

loading soho gaming bar pub cafe london event

You know, we like try ourselves all the events we share with you…so today we’ve been to MADD, location of Loading Soho pop-up event held by the guys from Loading Gaming Bar in Cornwell.

Fuck, that was amazing! A nice cozy space to drink some themed cocktails and play video games with your friends (or just with random people!). But not just that, indeed there was also a guy drawing awesome stuff on the wall (a.k.a. Cosmic Images, check out his blog), table games and retrogaming!

There is no much to say about it, but that WE WANT A PERMANENT PLACE LIKE THIS HERE IN LONDON! Even if we’re not totally sure about the venue…the MADD is a nice place, but quite small. For a gaming bar, probably a bigger place is better…but, we’ll see.

For now take a look at those pictures we took, and remember that the event ends tomorrow (more info here).

Loading Bar pop-up event in Soho, London

13 Mar

loading soho london

Recovered from last GamerDisco? Hope so, because it’s Loading time!

Loading Bar/Cafè is a unique venue in Falmouth (Cornwall, UK) offering the great experience of relax, drinking and gaming all together. It basically is a venue, where you can play your favourite current/retro generation video games consoles while drinking a cup of tea/coffee or a themed cocktail.

Sounds great? Good, because they’re looking to open up in London sometime in 2013, but now they’re trying some venues, so…pop-up event!

Today (Wednesday the 13th) and tomorrow (Thursday the 14th), they will be showcasing a venue in Soho that could potentially house a London branch of their unique gaming bar. Let’s go say hello!

From 12:00 they will be onsite, making drinks and generally having a grand time. This is a chance for people to sample what it is that they do and prove that there is a need in Central London for a space to drink, relax and play (and sure there is).

483843_855542865923_2144100591_n

Current Gen video games, retro consoles and board games; if it can fit in their van, they are bringing the lot from Cornwall to London! Their resident artist Cosmic will also be drawing on the walls live (and this is so cool).

If they can get enough bookings for future events during these test days they will open the space properly on April 2nd. So what are you waiting?? Move your ass!

Head over to MADD, 53 Rupert Street, Soho, London from mid-day to 11pm

Check the Facebook event!

And don’t forget that on thursday there will be also a Geek Pub meeting!

The making of Metal Gear Rising murals

7 Mar

Surely you still remember the amazing and huge murals made by End Of The Line in London, Liverpool and Leeds for the launch of Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. Well the game is now out (and it’s amazing) and Konami decided to release a video “making of” of the three graffiti. Enjoy (and expect some heavy dubstep).

Hideo Kojima and Yoji Shinkawa attending UK launch of Metal Gear Rising

21 Feb

Metal-Gear-Rising-Police-Car-2

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is one of the most hyped titles of this 2013 and Konami is putting a lot of effort in the UK launch. As we already told you, a series of giant Raiden murals has been created in three UK cities and every single bus in London has its own MGR advertisement on it.

But that’s not all, indeed Hideo Kojima and Yoji Shinkawa will be visiting London video games store GAME (the one in Westfield Shopping Center, Shepherd’s Bush) to attend the launch and sign some copies of the game.

GAME has also sent a press release for the midnight event:

KOJIMA COMES TO TOWN FOR REVENGEANCE LAUNCH

Celebrate the launch of Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance in the company of gaming legends Hideo Kojima and Yoji Shinkawa

On 22nd February GAME will host legendary videogame director Hideo Kojima at Westfield White City to celebrate the official UK launch of the long-awaited Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance.

Not only will the living legend be present at the event – Mr. Kojima will also be taking part in a Q&A in front of the crowds at the White City GAME store before the clock strikes twelve.

After satisfying the crowd’s curiosity about the inner workings of one of the most successful franchises in videogame history, Mr. Kojima will be joined by Konami lead artist and series creative director Yoji Shinkawa to serve the first 200 people in the queue their copy of the game. That’s right: 200 lucky gamers will receive their copy of Revengeance straight from the hands of the two men who created it! Gamers will then get the money-can’t-buy opportunity to have their picture taken with Hideo Kojima and Yoji Shinkawa; a great souvenir of the night to make them the envy of all their gaming friends.

Fans who have been working on an exoskeleton suit on their day off, have a kickass Gray Fox costume ready in their wardrobes, or want to crawl around Westfield in a “clever” cardboard box disguise are encouraged to arrive in cosplay to show Mr. Kojima and Mr. Shinkawa their inventions brought to life by their British fan base.

GAME is taking questions direct from the UK gaming community for Mr. Kojima. Gamers can tweet @GAMEdigital with their questions using the hashtag #GAMEAsksKojima and the best questions will be answered on the launch night by the man himself.

Dave Howard, Stores Director at GAME said: “We are over the moon that Hideo Kojima and Yuji Shinkawa are joining us for the launch of Revengeance at GAME, White City. They are legends in the gaming world and it’s going to be an unbelievable night for the gaming community. Mr. Kojima and Mr. Shinkawa have been the driving force behind some of the most high-calibre and forward-thinking games to grace our screens and it will be a real privilege seeing them up-close and personal, answering our community’s questions. It’s all set to be an unforgettable experience for our Metal Gear fans and one which is not to be missed!”

Customers who pre-order the game before the night will receive a GAME exclusive Steelbook Cover illustrated by Mr. Shinkawa, plus the download code for an in-game bonus available at no other European retailer: Raiden’s Inferno Armour. The in-game bonus increases the number of throwing weapons that the character can carry. All copies of Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance purchased at GAME also include the character Gray Fox, the original Cyborg Ninja from the hugely popular Metal Gear Solid, as downloadable content.

Looks like a good opportunity to meet two of the greatest game designers of all time. If you’ll be around London tomorrow, don’t let this chance go.

As you can see, after travelling from USA to France and Italy, Kojima is heading to London

**UPDATE (21 Feb 2013, 18:04)**

Well, it seems that if you want to attend the event you have to actually move your ass NOW and get there.

Huge Alien egg appears in London

12 Feb

Tomorrow, or better today (as it’s 1am while we’re writing this) it’s the release date for the highly anticipated (and delayed) Aliens: Colonial Marines.

We are pretty much fans of the Alien’s universe, but we don’t know if this upcoming Gearbox and SEGA‘s game could meet our expectations. We’ll see.

Anyway, SEGA had found a very cool way to promote its new title. Basically they’ve put a gigantic Alien egg just in front of the London’s Tower Bridge, and when we say gigantic, we mean like 6 meters tall…IT IS FUCKING HUGE!

The installation is completely open to the public, so if you live in London it may worth a closer look (hurry up, as we don’t know how long it’ll last).

just can't be unseen!

Let's save the universe. Again.

We’ve been to Gamerdisco, and it was amazing!

7 Feb

gamerdisco london shoreditch

Yup, last week we told you about Gamerdisco, an unique gaming/clubbing experience in London, and last night we’ve actually been there!

As promised there was music, like 90′s, electro, hip hop, chiptune and gaming themes as well plenty of games (both new and retro) to play.

The event, held at The Book Club in London’s Shoreditch, featured also free-to-all prized tournaments on Sonic & All Stars Racing Transformed (X360), Super Mario Kart (SNES), Marvel vs Capcom 3 (PS3) and Street Fighter vs Tekken (X360). We tried the Super Mario Kart one, but please just don’t ask….LoL

Obviously the cozy atmosphere (did we mention the free-entry?) of the venue offered also quite-cheap booze and other stuff you can usually find in a typical East London’s pub/club, like pool tables, arcade cabinets and other relaxing furnitures.

It was a great experience and we are looking forward to join the next event!

We also tried to take some pics, but the low lights (and the alcohol) didn’t help to our purpose. Anyway take a look at them.

Giant Metal Gear Rising murals decorate three UK cities

7 Feb

Tired of all these Metal Gear Rising trailers? Yep, the new title from Platinum Games looks awesome and all, but Konami felt that its new masterpiece (we hope it will be, because Platinum guys are cool and talented) deserve some more hype…

That’s why EndOfTheLine, a company based in East London focused on producing huge murals and cutting edge installations, has been contacted by the Japanese software house to perform some graffiti about Raiden in three UK cities.

You can find these pieces of art in Ropewalks Square in Liverpool (where the above pics were taken), Sclater Street in London’s Shoreditch and Aire Street in Leeds. The artworks aren’t quite finished yet, but by tomorrow the should be.

EndOfTheLine guys are quite famous for this kind of campaigns, indeed they used to work within the video games industry quite a lot. Check their portfolio to see some of their best work to date.

This is the kind of advertisement we like!

**UPDATE (12 Feb 2013)**

Here’s the one in Leeds!

**UPDATE (19 Feb 2013)**

We’ve been to Shoreditch this eve, and now also the one in London is (almost) complete!
