Massive Chalice is a massive success

6 Jun

massive chaliceWell, you got any doubt about it? Like almost every Double Fine project, Massive Chalice kickstarter backing was (and still is) a total success! In fact the game presented by the well-known indie developer has been funded in just a couple of days, exceeding the initial goal of $725.000.

Now Double Fine guys are thinking about some sort of stretch goal, here’s the official update:

A lot of people have asked us about stretch goals. MASSIVE CHALICE is still in the pre-production phase of development. We’ve got a TON of ideas around Double Fine HQ that sound awesome, but as with every game, not every idea can make it through production. And now that we’ve announced the game and shared the idea with you guys, we have another TON of ideas! So that’s two tons of ideas we’re trying to fit into a modest budget!

The exciting thing about taking the game to you guys at this early stage is that some of your ideas are even better than ours. As we go through pre-production into production, some of these ideas are going to trump ours, leading to a game that’s more in line with what our community wants! That’s amazing and we love having you involved in the process!

Ultimately it’s about making the best game possible with the total amount we receive. We’ll be using any amount of extra funding to add new features and iterate on the ideas generated not just by us, but by you—the community!

Torment: Tides of Numenera is now the most successful Kickstarter game ever

Torment: Tides of Numenera

Torment: Tides of Numenera is a story-driven RPG set in the world of Monte Cook’s Numenera and it’s considered by most the spiritual successor to Planescape Torment. This indie game set a new record on Kickstarter, scoring the highest amount of money raised by a game: $4,188,927

That’s quite a lot. Obviously the game was fully funded (from its starting goal of $900k) and it will be released somewhere between 2013 and 2014.

But what is exactly Torment: Tides of Numenera? Well, its creators said that they’re striving to create a rich role-playing experience that explores deep and personal themes. But here’s the scoop:

  • Torment is a single-player, isometric role-playing game.
  • You will play a single, specific character, though you will encounter optional NPC companions you may choose to include in your party.
  • The story-driven game will have a rich dialogue system.
  • The game will be developed in the Unity engine for PC (Windows)Mac, and Linuxplatforms.
  • The game will be available in EnglishFrenchGermanItalianPolishRussian,Spanish.
  • The game will be distributed DRM-free. (You’ll be able to get it from Steam, and other DRM-free download options will be made available.)

Said so, we’re really looking forward to know more about this game, but for now enjoy these video-screenshots.
