Hyperkin to reveal new RetroN 4 system

RetroN 3 RetroN 4

Hyperkin is an American company specialized in video games accessories and peripherals. They handle the current generation, but they’re quite famous on the net for making and selling accessories and replacements for all the major retro consoles.

They also make new consoles capable to play retro games, like the SupaBoy or the RetroN. Yep, it’s not like playing your Contra III on the original SNES, but it could be an option for those who don’t own a retro system.

Anyway, yesterday Hyperkin revealed its “new” console system, the RetroN 4, that is simply a new model of the RetroN 3 (big picture above), but capable of play NES, SNES, Genesis (or Mega Drive) and GBA cartridges all in one and with an HDMI output. It sounds like  very ambitious piece of hardware, and we can’t wait to take a further look at the console.

In the meanwhile these are the specs from the press release:

RetroN 4 Points of Interest:
·         2 Original Controller Ports for Each Platform (6 Total)
·         Wireless Bluetooth Controller
·         4 Cartridge Ports for NES, SNES, Genesis and GBA cartridges
·         HDMI Output with Digital Signal Conversion
·         “Perdana” Digital User Interface
·         PAL and NTSC compatible

Hyperkin will be unveiling the RetroN 4, at this year’s Midwest Gaming Classic at the Sheraton Milwaukee Brookfield Hotel in Brookfield, Wisconsin, on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at 11:00 AM CST. Stay tuned.
